Hi, I am Lesley Smith and I live in Balnakeil Craft Village which is situated near Durness on the spectacular North Coast of Sutherland, Scotland. I work in stained glass, fused glass, and also make glass beads from which I make jewellry,using both my own beads and semi-precious gemstones. My inspiration is taken from the wild and beautiful scenery which surrounds me, the play of light on sea and sky and, being an ex diver, the undersea world.
The Craft Village is an ex millitary camp which was established in the early sixties attracting artists and craftspeople to work and live. The craft village is operated by individual businesses and is open to the public. Most shops are seasonal but some are open all year round.
